In 2025, the adored LEGO City Arctic subtheme will return, and based on what we know, it could be an exciting ice journey. While most details are still not unknown, the names of these sets are giving curiosity.
LEGO 60470 Arctic Explorer Express Train
Let’s start with the most eye-catching set: the Arctic Explorer Express Train. At $210, this is likely going to be a major release. Trains are always a fan favorite, and if this set includes motorized functionality, it could become one of the must-have LEGO City sets of the year.
There’s some debate about what kind of “express train” we’re actually getting here. While the word express usually points to a passenger train, the Arctic setting leaves room for a cargo-heavy build, perhaps a mobile research base on tracks? Think about tracked vehicles linked together, carrying scientific equipment, snowmobiles, or even portable laboratories.
However, the $210 price tag does give weight to the idea of a true motorized train, complete with tracks and powered components. LEGO City trains in this price range often include these features, and with the recent retirement of sets like the 60336 Freight Train, there’s definitely room for a fresh, motorized addition to the City lineup.
As a fan of LEGO trains, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a fully motorized set. If it comes with tracks and the ability to integrate into my Winter Village display, it’s an instant buy.
LEGO 60471 Arctic Explorer Science Truck
For those who prefer wheeled exploration, the Arctic Explorer Science Truck sounds like another strong addition to the Arctic series. At $110, let's hope it will be a build featuring a science or research-focused vehicle packed with accessories and details.
Previous LEGO Arctic sets have included plenty of great minifigures, research tools, and animal molds, and this truck seems to continue that trend.
Final takeaway
If the new Arctic series has tracks and powered elements, the Arctic Explorer Express Train appears to be the standout model. In a snowy LEGO landscape, a moving train could be fantastic. Especially if it aligns with my Winter Village. The Science Truck might reflect the atmosphere of classic research. We'll see!
