An Exquisite Showcase of Nature's Wonders

LEGO Ideas Minerals Display

The Minerals Display set captures the beauty of natural minerals and gemstones through intricate brick-built designs. It features six distinct pieces, each representing a specific mineral:

  • Rhodochrosite
  • Amethyst Geode
  • Black Tourmaline with Aquamarine
  • Orange Quartz
  • Emerald
  • Pyrite

Each mineral is displayed in a refined dark and reddish-brown case accented with golden rivets. The modular case design allows for versatile display options—it can be mounted on a wall or placed on a shelf to brighten any space.

A Journey to 10,000 Votes

Dario originally submitted the Minerals Display concept to LEGO Ideas several years ago. While the initial version reached the required 10,000 votes, it did not pass the review stage at the time due to technical challenges, including the need for recolored bricks and some unconventional building techniques.

Fast-forward to today, and those obstacles have been overcome. Dario redesigned the specimens using only available LEGO bricks and ensured all building techniques align with LEGO’s standards. The result is a set that not only looks stunning but is also 100% buildable with existing LEGO elements.

LEGO’s Take on the Winning Design

The LEGO Ideas Review Board had high praise for the Minerals Display, describing it as a “true gem.” The team was particularly impressed by the vibrant colors, organic shapes, and the seamless integration of the minerals into the elegant display cabinet. According to LEGO, the set is destined to “brighten any home” with its dazzling aesthetic and innovative design.

Why This Set Stands Out

The Minerals Display is more than just a LEGO set, it’s a celebration of the natural world, crafted with creativity and precision. Fans of both LEGO and geology are sure to appreciate the detailed craftsmanship that brings these minerals to life in brick form. The set is also a testament to the power of persistence, as Dario’s determination to refine and perfect his concept ultimately paid off.

What’s Next for LEGO Ideas?

With this announcement, the LEGO Ideas lineup continues to grow, with nine additional fan-designed sets currently in development. The success of the Minerals Display highlights the diversity and creativity within the LEGO fan community, ensuring that there’s always something new and exciting on the horizon.
