LEGO Minifigures 71049: F1 series expected in May 2025

Disclaimer: This article contains rumors that have not been confirmed by LEGO. Details such as pricing, release dates, etc. may differ from the final product.

In 2025, LEGO will take its partnership with Formula 1 to the next level, as both iconic brands have entered into a multi-year collaboration. This exciting partnership promises to bring a wide variety of sets across several LEGO themes, including LEGO City, Duplo, Icons, Speed Champions, Technic, and more. Rumor has it that LEGO Minifigures will also join the lineup as part of this collaboration.

New LEGO Minifigures for Formula 1 fans

Earlier this year, the LEGO Minifigures line expanded with the space-themed 71046 Series 26 Space. Fast forward one year, and we might see the release of the 71049 CMF Formula 1 Series on May 1, 2025, featuring the official F1 logo and branding. This will be the second LEGO Minifigures series of 2025, following the release of 71048 Series 27 in January. The price is expected to remain at $3.99 / €3.99 / £3.99, which is in line with previous series.

Rumors about F1 teams and mini builds

According to leaks, including some from Instagram user "palnet," the 71049 series might not consist of traditional Minifigures. Instead, it’s rumored that this collection will be more similar to the 2002 LEGO Racers series, where each figure comes with a small, buildable F1 car.

The cars will feature Minifigure heads and helmets, offering a unique take on F1's iconic teams. It’s speculated that each of the current 10 Formula 1 teams will be represented, which means this series could contain only 10 Minifigures, as opposed to the usual 12 per set.

What do we know so far?

While these details are still based on rumors, it seems certain that 71049 will feature a Formula 1 theme. Given the complexity of securing licenses for each of the 20 current F1 drivers, LEGO appears to be focusing on small, brick-built cars for each team rather than creating Minifigures of the drivers themselves. This could be an exciting shift that gives fans both a taste of F1 and a fun building experience.

The LEGO 71049 CMF Formula 1 Series is slated for release on May 1, 2025. Are you excited about this new collection? Will you be picking up these Minifigures as soon as they hit shelves? And what are your thoughts on LEGO's growing partnership with Formula 1? Let us know in the comments below!
