A sneak peak of the upcoming 2025 Super Mario sets has surfaced, and I'm thrilled about what might be shown. Here is what we now know and what I personally hope to see, even though official details are yet unknown.
The set numbers and prices
The leak reveals several set numbers and prices, and it’s enough to get any LEGO or Mario enthusiast excited:
- 72043 TBD Starter Set - $49.99
- 72038 (Another Starter Set?) - $49.99
- 72039 - $99.99
- 72040 - $14.99
- 72041 - $29.99
- 72042 - $99.99
- 72046 (18+ Set) - $69.99
Two new starter sets? Yes, please!
The thought of two new starter sets is quite exciting. I'm crossing my fingers that Wario and Waluigi will make their highly anticipated LEGO debut. They should be included in the LEGO Super Mario universe as they are such recognizable figures.
Nevertheless, considering how much fan demand there has been for Daisy and Rosalina, I wouldn't be sad to see them either. Daisy is a serious competitor because of her Super Mario Wonder power-ups.
Expansion sets and what they could Be
The mid-range expansions like 72041 ($29.99) and 72040 ($14.99) could bring some much-needed variety. Maybe we’ll get sets focusing on Toad’s adventures or even some fun enemy courses. For the larger $99.99 sets (72039 and 72042), my hope is for something visually stunning, like a Bowser’s Airship upgrade or a vibrant Yoshi-themed course.
What about the 18+ set?
Now, the 72046 18+ set has me really intrigued. As a fan of the more intricate adult-targeted Mario builds, I’m hoping for something truly iconic. Could it be Peach’s Castle, or maybe a nostalgic diorama of the first Super Mario Bros. level? I’d personally love a detailed build of a Mario Kart scene, complete with miniature karts.
My take
If these rumors are true, 2025 may be a breakout year for LEGO Super Mario. Personally, I hope the sets continue to push the frontiers of inventiveness and engagement. I'm all in, whether it's through new characters, innovative builds, or simply adding to the Mushroom Kingdom's charm. Let's hope LEGO delivers!
